Frequently asked questions
What happens if I have a lapsed policy due to missed payments?
Loss of Cover:
The most significant consequence is that you lose your insurance cover. No benefit will be paid upon the death of the insured person.
Loss of Premiums:
In most cases with funeral insurance, the premiums you’ve already paid are not refundable once the policy has lapsed or been cancelled outside of a cooling-off period. You typically lose the money paid in.
Potential to Reinstate:
Please contact us if you want to reinstate your policy as we may offer a grace period or a window where you can reinstate the policy by paying the missed premiums (the arrears) in full, often within a certain timeframe.
📞 What You Need to Do Right Now
Your best and most direct course of action is to contact Legae Funeral Home immediately:
Phone: 011 027 6339
WhatsApp: 078 923 5757
Email: info@legaefuneral.co.za
Ask about the policy status:
Confirm that it has officially lapsed and the date it did so.
Ask about the reinstatement process:
Find out if there is a window to pay the arrears and have the policy reactivated. They will tell you the exact amount you owe and the deadline.
Be aware of waiting periods:
If you reinstate, there may be a new waiting period before the full cover is active again, similar to when the policy was first taken out.
Will the name change affect my benefits or payments?
No, your benefits and monthly payments remain the same.
How do I resolve issues with EasyPay payments?
We’ve been made aware of EasyPay payment issues affecting some of our clients.
Please remember: EasyPay only accepts the exact policy premium amount.
For example: if your premium is R270, paying more or less will cause an error.
Solution:
✅ To avoid problems, always pay the exact amount.
