1. Why is Sopema Funeral Services changing its name?
Sopema Funeral Services is now becoming Legae Funeral Home as part of a natural progression under the same trusted leadership. The Legae family has decided to run two separate funeral service businesses. The branch that’s been led by Mr Monageng Legae for over 14 years will now operate as Legae Funeral Home. A separate business will continue under the original Sopema Funeral Services name.
Please note, only our trading name is changing—our legal business name, Bontle Ke Botho Consulting, stays the same. Your existing policy remains fully secure.
2. Will the Sopema brand still exist?
Yes. Sopema was started by Mr Legae Senior as a family business. Now, the family is branching out. Mr Monageng Legae continues the legacy under Legae Funeral Home, while other family members will run a separate business under the Sopema name.
The Sopema you originally signed up with—its products, services, systems, and team—will now operate under the Legae name. Everything else stays the same.
3. Is Legae Funeral Home a new company?
No, it’s not new. It’s the continuation of Sopema Funeral Services under the same leadership and staff, with a new name to reflect progress and growth.
4. Is my current policy still valid?
Yes, your policy is fully active and legally protected. Our registered company name (Bontle Ke Botho Consulting) hasn’t changed, so your policy and its benefits remain the same.
5. Will the name change affect my benefits or payments?
No, your benefits and monthly payments remain exactly the same.
6. Is the underwriter changing?
No, we are still underwritten by Sanlam, so your policy remains secure.
7. Do I need to do anything?
No, you don’t need to take any action. Your policy continues as usual.
8. Will the claims process change?
No, our claims process stays the same.
9. Will there be any changes to burial services?
No, our burial services—including materials, vehicles, and our team—remain unchanged. We will continue to deliver excellent service and care.
10. Can I choose to stay with the Sopema brand?
Yes, you can stay with Legae or switch to the new Sopema branch. Just make sure you check their packages and terms first.
11. What does “Legae” mean?
“Legae” means “home” in Setswana. It represents our commitment to supporting you with comfort, dignity, and trusted care.
12. Will customer service stay the same?
Yes, you’ll receive the same compassionate and professional service from the same team.
13. How will I be kept informed?
We’ll update you through SMS, email, social media, radio, face-to-face visits, and branch staff. You can also contact us directly anytime.
14. Who can I contact with questions?

15. Are any branches closing?
The Orlando branch will now be managed by the family under the Sopema name.
The Dube, Dlamini, and North West branches will continue as Legae Funeral Home with the same quality and consistency.
